I, "Captain Take-Me-Shopping" Anthony Hardy ("Captain" or "Cap" for short (336) 375-7246 anthonyjhardy@hotmail.com) am trying to get my foot in the door for a full-time job somehow with regards to radio, especially in the South, and I am taking my deep announcing voice with me. I am a current DJ at WUAG 103.1FM on the campus of UNC-Greensboro. The most unique thing about my DJing career is that I have done a eight-hour overnight show (9pm-11pm, (1am-7am), and I could do it all again if I wanted to! I have picked up radio in January of 2009, the spring semester of my senior year, and loved it right away; after all, people through my college years have been telling my how good of voice I have and persuading me to go into radio. WUAG plays artists on independent labels; it barely if not at all plays mainstream music (i.e. MTV). My hours of DJing in the spring semester of my senior year were from 9am to 11am on Fridays. During that period, I was to play mainly rotation music (new and recent releases); other than that, I played anything that was within the WUAG library. I also had the opportunity to record news briefs and sports updates. Today, I preside as a summer DJ with hours ranging from 9am to 11am on Wednesdays, which, during those hours, is a rotation show. Besides new releases, I like to play music from artists such as James Brown, Hank Williams, The Foreign Exchange, Bobby McFerrin, and even Alvin & the Chipmunks. I do take requests as well. One of my favorite listeners of my show is a man named Paul Price, who listens to WUAG constantly. Depending on the time of day, my opening line when coming on the air is "GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING (/AFTERNOON/EVENING), VIETNAM!", and my closing line is "I'm WUAGone!" In the future, I do hope to futher my career in radio.
